On that February 14, 1912, President William Howard Taft proclaimed Arizona the 48th state in the Union. This centennial year promises to be a great time to visit the Grand Canyon State; in fact Arizona started celebrating in 2011 leading up to the big day.
Many people thought Robert P. McCulloch was crazy when he purchased the famous London Bridge in 1968. After all, its intended destination was land in Arizona, not over a body of water. On the contrary, the purchase was a stroke of genius, bringing to a nondescript area a curiosity that has become Arizona’s second biggest tourist attraction
This year the state of Arizona celebrates its centennial, so it’s a great time to visit the Grand Canyon State. Of course, there is much more to see and do in addition to visiting the spectacular national park. Why not start at Lake Havasu City?
