Canyon Road Paint Out

Canyon Road Paint Out

If you love Santa Fe, you’ll be interested in these annual Canyon Road events. The schedule for Passport to the Arts 2013, an annual public art event taking place on historic Canyon Road has been announced. Artists from around the country will visit Santa Fe for this three-day weekend art event.  Openings, exhibitions, silent auctions, and receptions for artists will be held at many of the internationally-known galleries and artist studios on Santa Fe’s historic Canyon Road. Headlining Passport to the Arts will be the Artist Quick Draw and Live Auction on Saturday.

Passport to the Arts Events
Artist Quick Draw:
Sat, May 11, 11:00am – 12:30pm
40 Canyon Road gallery artists will have 90 minutes to start and finish an original work of art in the Passport to the Arts’ Quick Draw.  Artists must complete the creative process under the watchful eyes of spectators and under the pressure of time.  Sculptors, jewelry makers, potters and artists of all creative persuasions are set to participate in this outdoor event. Using a variety of media, they will demonstrate techniques refined over years of study and endless time in studios.

Quick Draw Live Auction: Sat, May 11, 4:00pm
This second-year event is organized by the Canyon Road Merchants Association following a very successful inaugural event in 2012.  The Quick Draw Live Auction starts at 4pm with a cocktail reception and preview of Quick Draw items for interested bidders. Art lovers will find contemporary, abstract, modern, expressionistic, figurative and traditional pieces in a variety of media. Artists set aside brushes, palette knives, paints and tools to attend the preview reception and auction, which opens at 5:15pm.

The Art of Canyon Road
Nowhere else in the world can one find such incredible diversity of art and fine art galleries than on Canyon Road.  In one short mile, there are one hundred galleries featuring art that ranges from contemporary, abstract and modern to multicultural, expressionistic and figurative. Galleries showcase paintings in oil, acrylic, watercolor, and encaustic; along with sculptures in stone, bronze, marble, clay, and wood. And all can be found in one mile in the century-old buildings and historic gardens of this magical old road.
