December 30 (open Thursday – Sunday).

There’s so much to enjoy at Silver Dollar City, every single building is outlined in Christmas lights. Each shop is stocked with unique handcrafted or locally made Christmas presents. It is easy to find the perfect stocking stuffers, tasty old-fashioned hard candy, tidbits and treats, and even the stockings.

Silver Dollar City brings all your favorite things about Christmas all together in one day. You can get a full serving of your favorite things, millions of lights and the best of Christmas music. There are dozens of the holiday events every day. These are my five favorite things at Silver Dollar City.

1. Musical 5-story Special Effects Christmas Tree – Have you ever seen a Christmas tree get a standing ovation? The giant Christmas tree at Silver Dollar City does.

This huge holiday tree plays Christmas music and becomes a fabulous light show at dusk. You can’t miss the giant tree, it’s the centerpiece of Christmas on Main Street, adorned with a million lights. HotelsCombined.com named Silver Dollar City the #1Holiday Light and Tree Show in the nation.

2. It’s a Wonderful Life – SDC debuts the all-new musical show: It’s a Wonderful Life. Don’t miss this original production created for just for SDC. This is an adaptation of Frank Capra’s 1946 film. With help from his guardian angel, Clarence, and the a full cast of family and friends, George Bailey discovers the value of his life At the Red Gold Heritage Hall.

3. A Christmas Carol – Created especially for Silver Dollar City, the adaptation of Charles Dickens classic, is fun and inspiring.  The Broadway-style show is 60-minutes with a cast of 15 actors, live band, delightful Victorian costumes and scenery.

Over a million people will cheer on Mr. Scrooge in A Christmas Carol’s 10th season at Silver Dollar City. Presented at the Opera House Theater.

4. The Living Nativity – The story of the birth of Jesus Christ in the little town of Bethlehem. Revealed by the angel Gabriel, this dramatization may become your family’s annual tradition. Showing at the Riverfront Playhouse.

5. The Gifts of Christmas Holiday Light Parade – Make a wish for clear, starlit nights so you can see The Gifts of Christmas Holiday Light Parade. And, if your luck holds, you will get to see the parade twice in one evening. (Weather permitting)

All together it’s quite a package, the parade is short, bright and sure to cinch that Christmas holiday feeling. Rolling down the streets of SDC, you will see over 100,000 lights, giant Christmas gifts, dolls, whimsical costumed characters and the seasons’ favorite music.
