Silver Dollar City’s National Harvest Festival

The granddaddy of all festivals, the National Harvest Festival runs September 13 thru October 27. Silver Dollar City, The Home of American Craftsmanship, will host hundreds of craftsmen during the festival.

Broom making is becoming a lost art everywhere except Silver Dollar City.

Many guests flock to the festival every year to appreciate the colors of the Ozarks autumn and watch the skills of America’s best craftsmen. Visitors look up their favorite craftsmen each year, and often begin their holiday shopping.

The Best of Missouri Hands artists hold the Made In Missouri Art Faire. The exhibit, competition and a sale is in the Frisco Barn. Throughout the festival, various artists will be demonstrating their skills for visitors, Wednesday through Sunday. Find the artists and their demonstration schedule on line.

Polish your culinary skills at the Midwest Living® Culinary & Craft School. Master Craftsman of Culinary Arts, Debbie Dance Uhrig shows you how to make the most treasured family recipes. Join her in the Culinary & Craft School’s state-of-the-art kitchen.

The New Salute to the American Cowboy includes art, music, dancing and amazing stunts.

NEW this season – The Salute To The American Cowboy. watch breathtaking stuntmen and women, trick horses, gun spinning, quick rope and bull whip performances. Check the website for frequent updates to the Western Musicians and Cowboy Poets shows. Welcome back Legendary western star and water color artist Buck Taylor.

The Cowboy Salute continues Real working Chuck Wagons and wild mustangs. Join the fun for the first ever DRESS ‘EM UP, DECK ‘EM OUT—COWBOY CONTEST. A real duded up cowboy or cowgirl will take the prize every day of the festival. (Leave your weapons and horses at home.) The competition begins at 3pm daily in the Carousel Barn.

It just wouldn’t be a Cowboy Salute without an old fashioned Barn Dance. Les Gilliam & His Silver Lake Band will be playing country & western and western swing. Join the fun at the Red Gold Heritage Hall. Dances begin at 1:00, 2:00 & 3:00.

Admission – Purchase tickets online, or by calling 800-475-9370. Pick up tickets at the Silver Dollar City ticket booth. Tickets can be mailed to you for an additional fee. If you enjoy the Crafts Festival as much as I do, consider a season pass. You can enjoy the Crafts Festival as as many days as you like. Plus, use your season pass for the spectacular Old Time Christmas at Silver Dollar City.
