Bass Pro Shop’s White River Fish House literally sits on Lake Taneycomo. Guests can even come by boat, parking on the pier. It’s a great place to gather, the beer is cold and the bartender a master of his craft.
White River Fish House offers a relaxing view of these fast moving waters while you dine. This scenic restaurant is actually a floating barge serving up local favorites to fisherman and shoppers alike. Guests can park their boat on our pier to stop in for a respite and enjoy a cold beverage.
When you are sitting on a world famous cold water trout lake, expect the best fresh fish. We always get great service from a professional staff. The huge windows allow for lake watching throughout dinner.
Menu – I love the light, white, flaky Rainbow Trout. Try it pan-fried in cornmeal or, served as Trout Almondine served in the signature almond crust and served with almond butter.
Trout is also available grilled. The entree is served with potato or rice and a vegetable. (13.95). My suggestion? Order the Trout Almandine.
If fish isn’t your thing, try the fall off the bone St. Louis-style pork BBQ ribs. half rack 12.95 or, full rack 19.95.
History– The legendary Big Jim Owens led float trips along the White and James Rivers in the 40’s and 50’s. He organized leisurely trips that pampered his guests, allowing them to fish, snap photos, or lay back and enjoy the scenery for a day, a weekend, even up to a week or two.

The décor of The White River Fish House pays tribute Jim Owen, “the king of the Ozarks float trip operators”, and John Morris, founder of Bass Pro, in the posters and photos throughout the restaurant.
Bass Pro – brings a great restaurant wherever they build a new store. You may want to dine at one of these Bass Pro Restaurants: Islamorada Fish Company, Hemingway’s Blue Water Cafe, Uncle Buck’s Fishbowl and Grill, and Riverside Inn.
I’ve eaten at several of these restaurants. They are always top quality food and service. The original Bass Pro in Springfield has a Hemingway’s Blue Water Cafe and I would recommend it to anyone, anytime.
The Details – White River Fish House address is easy: 1 Bass Pro Drive, phone: 417-243-5100. Call for reservations, especially during the summer.
