March should be everyone’s favorite time of the year, knowing the scent of spring will soon be in the air.
At the Philadelphia Flower Show this week, not only is it spring, but it’s all about Hawaii, their agriculture, their breed of flowers and their tropical paradise.
The Philadelphia Flower Show started on March 4 and runs through March 11. It’s an annual enjoyment for flower lovers who come from all over the metropolitan areas of New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. This year their program dedicates its theme to the Islands of Aloha.
The lush tropical weather makes Hawaii a island of colorful flowers that grow in abundance all year long.
Imagine having this centerpiece in your entrance hallway. It was a knockout of color and design, as most of the arrangements depicted across the dozens of aisles at the Philadelphia Flower Show.
Explosion of color and design boggled my mind in appreciation of the agricultural geniuses from Reading, Pennsylvania and Greenwich, Connecticut who had their displays crowded with onlookers.
There were rows upon rows of vendors selling unique items. The one that most interested me was the Hanging Water Gardens, handcrafted in Vermont. Beautiful vases for windows or porches, or wherever you might want to hang a flowery garden indoors or outdoors. The hanging water garden’s quote on their pamphlet says, “Buy it, Hang it, Watch it grow.” This is an interesting piece of decor that will fill a corner or window in any room of your home.
Hanging Water Gardens come in various colors and styles. Check their website for prices and ornamental design.
When you need a breather, go out onto the concourse for cooking demos, gardening presentations, wine tasting, and samplings of chocolate with Island flavor.
The Salty Wahine Gourmet Hawaiian Salts have a number of different salts on sale: Passion Fruit Chile Pepper, Guava Garlic, Mango Java, Red Alaea, and Hawaiian Sea Salt, just to name a few.
