For blister prevention-try Injinji Toe Socks.

I have extremely blister prone feet, resulting in a long-standing exploration of various preventive tactics and remedies. The most used item in my carefully honed-down backpack on multi-day backpacking trips is my blister kit. At times it has carried BodyGlide, Band-Aids, surgical tape, scissors, moleskin, doughnut-shaped pads, sock liners, foot powder, hydrogel, wound dressings and more. Other than wrapping each, individual toe in surgical tape all other remedies invariably resulted in painful blisters between my toes.  I may have finally found the answer with Injinji Toe Socks.

I resisted for awhile because it seemed like all that fabric between the toes would feel uncomfortably bulky, but after hearing my husband rave about them for a year, and receiving them in my Christmas stocking, I gave them a try.

Made from 70% micro-fine merino wool, 25% nylon and 5% Lycra the seamless socks felt silky smooth and were a pleasure to touch. A size Medium fit my size 9 foot perfectly. I pulled them on and a couple of toes tried to get in the same slot, but after a little manipulation I got them all where they needed to be. Surprisingly, the sock felt comfortable and my toes were happy.

I took them out for a test run on a 9 mile hike up rough, steep terrain around Tahoe on a warm summer day. I didn’t apply any of my usual potions to my feet, just the socks. After 4 ½ sweaty hours I removed the socks, and my feet looked perfect. No blisters, chafing or soreness. I examined each toe and there were no signs of blisters.

Available in different models designed for specific uses such as the Yoga socks with skid resistant grippers or knee-high Travel sock that provides light compression to prevent swelling, I tested the crew length Outdoor model recommended for hiking, trekking, trail running, mountain biking and adventure sports.
