If you love everything about Christmas, and you’re looking for the perfect place to celebrate, head to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee in beautiful Smoky Mountain country.

Santa Claus is alive and well, posing for pictures, and entertaining guests at The Inn at Christmas Place. This picturesque Bavarian-style hotel is totally Christmas, from the carolers that greet guests walking in the front door (okay, it’s really two statues) to gentle seasonal songs wafting throughout the building.

Not only is the lobby elaborately decorated with lighted Christmas trees, table arrangements, and holly wreaths—even in summer—but guest rooms also promote the festive spirit with poinsettia pictures, towel-holding sleighs, and sumptuous pillows stitched in holiday themes.  It’s all an unexpected diversion during summer and a lovely reinforcement of the holidays in winter.  Mountain views add to the Alps ambience.

A unique and striking glockenspiel installation that plays Christmas carols and strikes the time hourly from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. can be found on the first floor lobby. European Beech from the Black Forest region of Germany and hand-cast bronze bells from the Verdin Company in Ohio have been crafted into The Inn’s distinctive carillon and clock.

From Thanksgiving to Christmas, live entertainment is provided almost every night.  Thursdays and Saturdays at 8:15 p.m., Santa gives a live musical program–he plays guitar and tells Christmas stories.   Just before Christmas he also greets guests at 9:00 a.m. for breakfast on weekdays.  Other nights during the holiday season feature elves, storytelling, choirs, live Nativity, and other local talents.  Cookie decorating and holiday crafts are offered the week before Christmas. Click here to see Santa’s current performance schedule.

Opened in 2007, The Inn is just across the street from its namesake, The Incredible Christmas Place, which has rightly earned that name.  Allow plenty of time to wander through this incredible collection of everything Christmas—gifts, trees and wreaths, ornaments and decorations, jewelry, collectibles, floral boutique and candy kitchen, and toys and trains for all ages to enjoy.

Owned by the same family that started the Christmas decoration business, the four-star Inn at Christmas Place is surrounded by beautiful landscaping. An outdoor pool with 95-foot, figure-eight waterslide and plush gardens with different water features provide cool retreats in summer. Winter guests opt for the indoor pool and hot tub.

Honeymoon and anniversary packages are available for one or two nights from December 21, 2010 through March 10, 2011. Other packages during the same time frame include dinners at the Partridge and Pear Restaurant.

After Christmas, a Winterfest Special will be in effect from January 2-March 10, 2011. Stay two  or more nights and receive 20% off Sunday-Thursday and 10% off Friday and Saturday.
