Pies on Parade Tour in Rockland Maine

I think that National Pie Day (January 23rd) should be declared a holiday like Thanksgiving or New Year’s… no work, stores closed, and we all get to stay home and eat pie. Because that hasn’t happened yet, on the third weekend in January I head to Rockland Maine for the Pies on Parade Tour. For the past several years the tour has been put on by the four beautiful inns that make up the Historic Inns of Rockland.

Bar Harbor in Maine is more than a picturesque town

Interesting shops and Victorian homes are only part of the story when visiting Bar Harbor, Maine. Visitors climb the hills and cliffs of Acadia National Park for a view of the sea. It’s fun to meander this hilly picturesque village of Victorian inns and clever boutiques. The high hills and forested roads of its internationally known neighbor, Acadia National Park, are great to explore. However, there are two places not on everyone’s radar that add something special when visiting the area. One is in town and the other is out – way out….
