Train adventure in Arizona – Encountering eagles

Winter in Arizona can be an exciting time. During “eagle season,” you may encounter majestic Bald Eagles when you take an excursion on the Verde Canyon Railroad. Located just north of Phoenix, and about a half hour from Sedona, the Verde Canyon Railroad is a laid back excursion train running from Clarkdale to little Perkinsville and return.

Nature Conservancy Preserves of Arizona – Hiking, birding and learning

The Nature Conservancy has set aside several beautiful areas in Arizona for the preservation of habitats and for the education and enjoyment of the public. Some of the preserves are open daily to visitors and some require pre-planning and requesting access. Others have overnight accommodations for groups. Be sure and explore the websites of the preserves before you go so you know if and when they are open to visitors.
