Sometimes the best time to go to a place is the off season. That certainly pertains to the Oregon Coast. Not only have the summer tourists left, many of the accommodations offer winter rates. In the northern and central coast you can walk the beach alone, if you wish. You can hike the wooded trails in dripping dewy fog and snuggle in front of a fireplace during a storm.
One of the most popular tours in Alaska, the White Pass and Yukon Railroad, has provided exciting trips through tunnels, over trestles, and beside waterfalls since 1898.
Last week in Seattle, 175 brides said “I do” to an invitation to a bridal show case. More than 100 of those brides-to-be showed up on February 17th at the Pan Pacific Hotel to watch a mock wedding and attend a reception for the ”bride” and “groom”, along with the “parents” of the lucky couple and other “friends” and “relatives”. It was a fascinating experience that entranced many brides-to-be.
Seattle’s Olympic Sculpture Park offers visitors and locals both art and exercise, no matter what the season. Pictures in this article were taken in late January at the park as multitudes of people walked the trails, admired the sculpture and watched the trains as they rolled through the park.
