Lobby Tinwork in Hotel Encanto de Las Cruces

When you arrive in Las Cruces via I-25 or I-10 you’ll notice a broad selection of chain motels and restaurants. But if you want something different, something truly representing the culture of the area, consider Hotel Encanto de las Cruces. The hotel offers 203 hotel rooms and five spacious suites.

When you drive up and enter the lobby you’ll be transported  into the grandeur of Spanish Colonial tradition and times.  The hotel, located in central Las Cruces, overlooks the Mesilla Valley  and mountains. The multi-story hotel offers guests a view of the mountains or of the city’s twinkling lights.

While you are there enjoy the lobby fountain, saltillo tile floors and impressive tinwork behind the reception desk. Rooms have a nice colonial flair and are very comfortable. We stayed there twice and enjoyed a pool and city view one time and a mountain view the next. Despite being near busy streets, we found the rooms to be quiet and our evenings there relaxing.

But what we most enjoyed was the warm hospitality of the staff and the Spanish Colonial decor. It was clear we were not in one of those “cookie cutter” hotels. We were in a place that was culturally relevant to the area we were visiting.

Hotel Amenities
Hotel Encanto has a lovely outdoor pool, provides free wireless Internet, and has the typical room amenities such as iron, hair dryer and more. Microwave and refrigerator are provided on request.  The hotel has a fitness center.

Visiting Las Cruces
Hotel Encanto de Las Cruces is convenient to  the Las Cruces Convention Center and walking distance from restaurants and mall shopping. Historic Mesilla, which we thoroughly enjoyed,  is a short drive away. For day trips, consider White Sands National Monument and the Organ Mountains. Also nearby are New Mexico State University, Las Cruces wineries and golf courses.

Old Mesilla is a must-see while you are in Las Cruces. Surrounding a central plaza, you’ll find quaint shops in historic buildings and two amazing restaurants… the Double Eagle, serving steak and seafood and La Posta, serving excellent Mexican Food. Spend at least a half day there. You won’t be disappointed.

I enjoy the Heritage Hotels, located throughout New Mexico and southern Arizona because they are unique and provide you with a rich cultural experience, specific to the area where you are staying. In Las Cruces, filled with chain motels and hotels, I found Hotel Encanto to be a welcome alternative. While they have meeting rooms and hold business conferences, the hotel is also ideal for the traveler.
