Americans will never forget Tuesday, September 11, 2001. We watched in horror as two planes, American Airlines flight 11 and United flight 175 hit the World Trade Center towers at 8:46am and 9:02am respectively. And, later in the morning as American Airlines flight 77 slammed into the Pentagon. And, later still, as United Airlines Flight 93 crashed due to the heroism of the passengers who overtook their terrorists and brought the plane down in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania instead of its intended target the United States Capitol in Washington, DC.

As we know, thousands of people were killed, and we, as a nation, are grateful to the first responders, many of whom lost their lives, from all branches of the military, police and fire departments, emergency medical technicians and emergency room staffs. These people came in teams from across the country pouring into each of the sites of destruction to assist in the rescue and then recovery of victims.

To thank first responders who put their lives on the line in their day to day jobs and to quietly pay homage to the 10th anniversary of that fateful day,  several New England inns are offering free room stays on Sunday, September 11th to first responders and one family member. This offer is also extended to surviving family members of first responders who died in the line of duty.

To qualify for these offers all you need do is go to the Distinctive Inns of New England’s Facebook page and the Facebook page for the Berry Manor Inn and “ LIKE” the inns.

Then leave a message or tell your story on each of their walls stating your contact information, why you qualify, who you are, where you work, what you do and where you’re from. After you “LIKE” them on their Facebook pages contact the innkeepers directly via email to make further arrangements.
