Eat at Farmers Gastropub in Springfield, Missouri

One of Springfield’s few sustainable restaurants serving a farm-to-table menu.

Go to the Farmers Gastropub because the food is good and the beer is cold. Feel good about your meal because, the menu is fresh, local and sustainable.

My favorites: Ploughman’s Lunch – $8. You don’t find this on many menus, but this is a summertime favorite. Artisan cheese, apple, house-made relish and crusty bread. Add a glass of local wine or beer, sit outside. Enjoy the best of summer and Springfield. If you are not a regular, you will be.

Dinner – Bouef Bourguingnon – $19. Another dish you don’t often find on local menus. This is the best beef dish you’ll ever eat. Bring your vegetarian friends, Vegetarian Cassoulet – $12 It’s a pub, so of course there is fish and chips (fries) in two sizes, medium – $10 and large – $14.

Burgers and sliders can be had any time. There is an amazing chef in this pub. And a full menu that changes seasonally. As the owner, Bill Griffiths web page says, they serve, “Fresh, local, organic and sustainable foods cooked with passion.” Additionally there is free Wi-Fi and sports TVs in the pub. Gastropub also caters their Bistro menu.

Gastropub is like a friendly neighborhood pub with a farm to table menu.

What’s a Gastropub?
Pubs are meant to be places where anyone from the neighborhood can stop in to have a bite and a pint. A regular pub is sought more for its liquid fare than its fine cuisine. However, a gastropub like Farmers ups the ante on the food side of the menu.

This gastropub is dedicated to sustainable, natural and organic dining and drinking whenever possible. If you are vacationing or traveling through Springfield, eat here to get a taste of the best local and seasonal food. Gastopub is becoming a local favorite.

The game is always on in the pub, but you can still have a quiet conversation while dining. There is also comfortable and pleasant, umbrella shaded outdoor seating. I’ll see you there.
